What is a KTP Crystal?
KTP crystal has the characteristics of large nonlinear coefficient, large allowable temperature and allowable angle, high laser damage threshold, stable chemical properties, no deliquescence, moderate mechanical strength, frequency doubling conversion efficiency of more than 70%, etc. It is a medium and small power solid green The best frequency doubling material for optical lasers.
KTP has the following very important nonlinear characteristics
- Large nonlinear optical coefficient (about 15 times that of KDP crystal)
- Wide acceptance angle and small walk-off angle
- Bandwidth
- High photoelectric conversion efficiency and low dielectric constant
- Has good physical, chemical and mechanical properties
- High thermal conductivity (2 times that of BBN crystal)
- Low mismatch
- Lower cost compared to BBO and LBO
KTP Application
The most important applications are frequency doubling and OPO applications (laser ranging), especially OPO applications have developed very rapidly in recent years.
Frequency-doubling (SHG) of neodymium-doped crystal lasers for green/red output
Solid-state laser frequency mixing (SFM) such as neodymium-doped crystals to obtain blue light output
OPG, OPA and OPO obtain dimming in the range of 0.6um-4.5um
Electro-optical (E-O) modulation, optical switch
